Polish Pickup "Cocktails & Mocktails" June 2020

*Products shown were provided as press samples in exchange for photos and feedback. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

This month's theme is right up my alley! I'm a big fan of fancy mixed drinks, but lately I've been finding myself enjoying a nice gin and tonic or hard seltzer on the couch. I just can't wait until we are able to get back to the Fish N' Pig, our favorite local bar here on our little lake, and enjoy some cocktails with friends and neighbors! In the mean time, I've been enjoying all the delicious beverage inspired beauties being mixed up for Polish Pickup! The makers have knocked it out of the park as always!

All of these beautiful products and many more will be available to pre-order Friday, June 5th, through Monday, June 8th, only at PolishPickup.com!

Cuticula Scented Nail Care

"Purple Passion"

Price: $12.00 | No Cap

Inspiration: The Purple Passion Everclear cocktail.

Description: "Purple Passion" is a deep purple jelly with iridescent shifting flakes, blue-green micro flakes, green metallic micro flakes, blue metallic micro flakes, turquoise metallic micro flakes, and ultra holo silver holographic micro flakes. Shown here as 3 thin coats, plus Cuticula's Limitless Quick Dry Top Coat and Cloud Cover Matte Top Coat.

Thoughts: I found this polish to apply very smooth and easily. The first coat came across as being quite sheer, but the second coat showed that opacity builds very nicely. I used 3 thin coats, but I believe shorter nails could get away with 2 normal coats. It dried with a tiny bit of texture, but adding a coat of Cuticula's Limitless top coat smoothed the finish right out and made all those sparkly add-ins pop.

Cuticula Scented Nail Care

Limitless & Nail Nectar Duo

Price: $16.00 | 300 Cap

Description: The 'Wild Passion Fruit Bellini' scent is a vivacious and bright fragrance with exotic passion fruit, melon, and mandarin blended with bubbly champagne, juicy nectarine and black currant.

》Some benefits of Limitless include: a 5 free formula that is non-smearing, non-shrinking, and dries to a rock hard finish.

Click here for a full list of benefits and ingredients in Limitless Quick Dry Top Coat.

Nail Nectar is a non greasy and luxurious to the touch cuticle oil full of beneficial oils to the skin and nails, featured here in a 10ml tube with doe foot applicator.

Click here for a full list of ingredients in Nail Nectar cuticle oil.

Thoughts: This scent is delightfully fresh and fruity! I found it to have a bit of a berry tang to it, but the melon seems to be the more upfront scent note for me, followed by the light champagne and citrus notes. The scent is a bit more pronounced in the Nail Nectar than in the Limitless. The Limitless Top Coat is wonderful as always, drying very quickly, and easily sealing in my stamping smear-free using the floating method. The Nail Nectar itself is very luxurious, leaving the cuticles feeling soft and moisturized. After massaging into cuticles, even the tips of my fingers were left feeling super soft. I'm so used to using brush pens for oil application, that I never realized just how big of a fan I am of the doe foot applicator! It makes for quick, precise application, only needing a single dip for all 10 digits.

Dollish Polish

Price: $13.00 | No Cap

Inspiration: Sweet beet margarita.

Description: "GIMMIE A BEET!" is a stunning orchid pink squishy jelly, packed with iridescent flakes & micro glitters. Shown here as 3 thin coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: This polish has a nice jelly formula that applies very easily. I love the big flakes and just how evenly and flat they lay. The thin coats dried nice and quick with a slight texture indicative of a flakie polish that was smoothed out nicely by a single top coat.

Fair Maiden Polish

"Ain't No Laws"

Price: $11.00 | No Cap

Inspiration: Inspired by maker Sarah's favorite flavor White Claw, Mango.

Description: "Ain't No Laws" is an orange to yellow thermal with rose-golden-green shimmer and orange-gold-green iridescent flakes. Shown here as 3 thin coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: This girl is a HUGE fan of the White Claw, and I think the Maidens nailed this one! It is such a bright and cheery polish! The formula was very smooth and easy to control with the wide, rounded paddle brush. It transitioned easily and naturally, with the dense shimmer and flake catching every bit of light and just sparkling!

Glisten & Glow

"Mountain Dew Mocktail"

Price: $12.50 | No Cap

Inspiration: A twist on the classic Mountain Dew soft drink.

Description: "Mountain Dew Mocktail" is a neon yellow jelly polish loaded with various shapes and sizes of black and black holo glitters. Shown here as 3 thin coats, plus Glisten & Glow's Top Coat and Glisten & Glow's Matte Top Coat.

Thoughts: LOVE this one! This formula is perfection, applying so smooth and easily, it seemed to apply itself. Each thin coat showed a wonderful dispersal of the glitters. My bottle came to me with the more premium paddle brush, but I am unsure if bottles purchased during the sale will have this brush or the regular thin style brush.

Glisten & Glow

Top Coat

Price: $7.50 | No Cap

Description: Glisten & Glow Top Coat is an award winning fast dry glossy top coat.

Some benefits include: 2-4 minutes or less drying time; durable and long lasting with days or weeks of no tip wear, or chipping; crystal clear, shiny, glossy "wet/gel like" finish; seals and evens glitters and flakie polishes; non smearing for stamping manis; glows under black light.

Click here for a full list of benefits and ingredients in Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Thoughts: Glisten & Glows top coat is a great go-to! I have never had it smear any stamping and it always dries super quick. I love how it keeps the same consistency throughout the bottle, not becoming thick or goopy halfway through the bottle like some other top coats may.

Heather's Hues

"Clutching My Perla Negra"

Price: $12.50 | No Cap

Inspiration: The Perla Negra, an intriguing cocktail featuring activated charcoal.

Description: "Clutching My Perla Negra" is a black to colorless thermal packed with pink-gold-green iridescent shimmer and flakes and a hint of pink holo microshreds. Shown here as 2 coats, plus gloss and matte top coats. Also shown as a single coat over a berry pink and black, plus gloss top coat.

Thoughts: This polish applied super smooth and easily with all the flakes laying down nicely. It dried quickly with very little texture, but single gloss top coat smoothed it out perfectly and made those shimmers shine beautifully. I found it to transition from cold to warm states easily and naturally throughout the day. If thermals clear or colorless thermals aren't your style, this polish can be used to add a nice smokey look to colored bases or worn over black as a flakie topper! In this case I would recommend only a single coat though, as the warm state can add white or cloudy tint the more it's built up.

"Lei'd Back"

Price: $12.00 | No Cap

Inspiration: The Maui Mule

Description: "Lei’d Back" is a dark blurple to grey blue to peach tri-thermal with red to green to gold shifting aurora shimmer, pink to gold shifting flakies, and a boat load of violet to pink to copper to orange shifting flakies. Shown here as 3 thin coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: This polish applied very easily in nice thin coats. I thought the formula was a touch on the thicker side, but not overly thick. When swatching, I generally use a tiny space heater to warm my hands to show transitions, and I was able to get all 3 colors of the tri-thermal to come through beautifully using this method. However, I wore this polish "out in the world" for 3 days, and I found that the warmest peachy pink tone is very hard to reach under natural conditions. My body temperature sits on the colder side, so if yours does the same, this polish will probably sit more in the mid tone, greyish blue state rather than in the warmest peach state.

Night Owl Lacquer

Price: $12.50 | No Cap

Inspiration: A magical color changing cocktail.

Description: "Magical" is a neon green crelly with multichrome flakes that shift green/blue/purple and bright aqua shimmer sparks. Shown here as 3 thin coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: This may just be my overall favorite for this month! The bright base color along with the multichrome flakes create some awesome eye catching contrast. It applied easily in thin coats, and dried quickly with just slight flake texture, which was smoothed out nicely with a single top coat.

Pepper Pot Polish

"Call Me Old Fashioned"

Price: $11.00 | 80 US Cap | 10 UK Cap

Inspiration: Maker Mackenzie's own recipe for an Earl Grey Old Fashioned cocktail.

Description: "Call Me Old Fashioned" is a sparkly copper with gold flakes and subtle pink shimmer, and each order will receive a recipe for my signature cocktail. Shown here as 3 thin coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: Mackenzie is the queen of funky, unique colors, and his chocolaty, rusty copper is no exception. The silky formula applies like butter and dries nice and quick. The shimmers catch light beautifully and add just the right amout of pizzazz to this polish. It is also stunning when matte!
