*Products shown here were provided to me as press samples in exchange for photos and feedback. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

The 'Brighten Up' Collection from Night Owl Lacquer consists of 5 vibrant shimmer polishes in a rainbow of colors, each with a perfectly suited optimistic name! I'll be showing these beautiful polishes in rainbow order, followed by a super fun and colorful nail art idea using the collection. While I don't do nail art often, I was able to easily create a smoosh mani using these polishes that I absolutely fell in love with!

This collection is set to release Friday, May 15th, at 6:00pm Mountain Time (8:00pm Eastern Time). The full collection will be priced at $42, but they will also be available individually for $9 each. Get yours at nightowllacquer.com!

"Playful"

Description: A neon pink with an aqua shimmer shown here in 2 coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: This one may just be my favorite of the bunch! It is about as neon as you can get a pink. I mean, highlighter neon. The vibrant pink base is perfectly complemented by the contrasting icy blue shimmer. Application was smooth and easy, and I had no issues with brush strokes being left behind. Keep in mind that brush strokes are a common thing with shimmer polishes, however, I found that these were formulated with just the right amount of shimmer so that any brush strokes (if visible at all) are very light, and easily straightened out.

"Cheerful"

Description: A neon sunshine yellow with a rose gold shimmer shown here in 2 coats, plus gloss and matte top coats. Thoughts: The name says it all. This is such a cheerful, happy yellow! The rose gold shimmer in the yellow base appears to the eye to be more of a brassy-gold tone, adding a nice warmth to the polish. This polish applies easily and smoothly, very similar to "Playful" above.

"Delightful"

Description: A neon green with a rose gold shimmer shown here in 2 coats, plus gloss and matte top coats. Thoughts: This is a unique shade of lime green and is definitely my second top pick of these after "Playful." While this polish shares the same rose gold shimmer as "Cheerful" above, the green base makes it appear more pinky-gold leaning rather than brassy-gold leaning. This polish also applies easily and smoothly, just as "Playful" and "Cheerful."

"Hopeful"

Description: A bright teal with a purple shimmer shown here in 3 coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: While the other polishes of this collection have a metallic-like shimmer, the shimmer found in this one seems to have a unique, intense glow. That glowy purple shimmer definitely makes this one stand out a bit from the others. Also, the formula is a little bit different with this one, being just a touch thinner and requiring an extra coat to reach the same opacity as the others shown above. I spoke with Lindsay (the maker behind Night Owl Lacquer) about this and she said she may add a touch more shimmer to this one, but I can not say for certain if she decided to do that or not.

"Blissful"

Description: A bright purple with a green shimmer shown here in 2 coats, plus gloss and matte top coats.

Thoughts: While the others shown above each have a slight bit of VNL, this is the only one of the bunch to reach 100% opacity with only 2 coats. The shimmer in this one is a soft seafoam green, but some of the larger shimmer particles have a sky blue tint that seem to give off a bit of a silver appearance in photos. In person, the shimmer does lean more green.

Smoosh Marble Mani

Using these 5 colors along with a white creme base and clear jelly stamper, I was able to create this fun, neon, tie-dye-looking nail art. This look was super easy to achieve and is actually my very first time ever pulling off a successful smoosh mani! Woo! Like I said before, I don't do nail art often, so unfortunately I don't have any experience documenting nail art steps. However, here is a quick video tutorial by Paulina's Passions showcasing the simple method I used: youtu.be/pjrMfBIrKrI. The only thing I did a bit differently from this video is that I did not lay down a white coat on my mat prior dotting the colors on it.

Again, these polishes are priced at $9 each or $42 for the full collection, and are set to release Friday, May 15th, at 6:00pm Mountain Time (8:00pm Eastern Time) at nightowllacquer.com!
