Heather's Hues May 2021 Monthly Duo

For May's duo, the Hue-t-pies were tasked with submitting photos fitting the theme of 'May Flowers!' Heather knocked these out of the park y'all! The polishes she's created have absolutely nailed their inspirations: a bunch of speckled Cattleya orchids, and a quaint Italian villa covered in Bougainvillea! These beauties will be available throughout the month of May only at HeathersHues.com!

On a side note, I apologize, but Wix has been destroying my photo quality lately, especially on mobile. On desktop, individual photos can be expanded to full size and full quality. I'm working on figuring this out by trying different methods of photo resizing, and hope that future photos will display at full or at least higher quality for mobile viewers. Again, I'm sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.

In case you're new to the Monthly Duo, each month Heather tasks the members of her Facebook fan group, the Hue-t-pies, to submit photos fitting a theme of her choice. The photos are whittled down to 10, then the group votes for their favorite 2 photos to inspire Heather to create something new and special for that month. Join in on the fun for next month, and peep at the inspiration photos for these by joining us in the Facebook group here: www.facebook.com/groups/HeathersHueTpies

"Bougainvillea"

Price: $12.50

Description: This is a fabulous solar polish that is clear when indoors and turns a beautiful berry when in the sun. It's kissed with a mix of glitters and shreds in white and berry and finished with a touch of small iridescent blue-violet glitters. Shown here in 3 thin coats, plus gloss and matte top coats. An LED gel curing lamp was used to take these photos. Because this polish is solar, make sure not to use a UV blocking top coat when wearing it.

Thoughts: This polish has such a nice formula and is super reactive as well! It applies easily in thin, even coats, drying nice and quickly. I love the use of glitters that are the essentially same colors as the solar base. When the pigment is not activated (indoors), the berry glitters and flakes stand out beautifully in the white base, and when activated (in sunlight), the white glitters pop against the berry base. The blue sparks are also a very nice touch, showing up beautifully both indoors and in the sun. Those with longer nails like mine may notice more reaction towards the tips of your nails since sunlight is able to reach “behind” the polish as well.

"Cattleya Orchids"

Price: $12.50

Description: This is a bright orange crelly packed with a mix of matte and metallic glitters and flakes in a variety of oranges and pinks. Shown here in 2 coats, plus 2 coats gloss top coat and matte top coat.

Thoughts: This a super fun, glitter packed polish! The whitened, orange sherbet toned base serves as perfect contrast for the variety of pink glitters, while the orange glitters and flakes provide wonderful visual texture and depth. Because of these larger, dense glitters, I found normal to somewhat thicker coats were best for distributing all the add-ins rather than thinner coats. It does have a glitter textured finish, so 2 coats of top coat or a glitter burying product may be needed to smooth it out. I loved the look of this one matte as well.

Again, May's Duo will be available throughout the month of May only at HeathersHues.com!
